The Final Dozen

...and then there were twelve. Sad as I was to have to change my concentration, I know it was for the best. It was also more autobiographical. As a teenage-artist, I have noticed many stereotypes. Many expect us to be nerdy, emo, or scene. Not everyone is like that; that's the beauty of art! Everyone is unique! I am very proud of how this series played out. I have to give a big shout out to my model for being so patient with me and being there for me through the ups and downs of everything! I started and ended with my two strongest photos and tried to make a story. As well as creating art--the written/hand-drawn pieces were made and edited by me, just to be clear, it's my work, not someone online--the young artist also enjoys playing the semi-popular card game, Magic, with her friends and has a story; in simplest terms: Prom night didn't go as she'd hoped. I tried to create a story within each mini-series, whether it be from enjoyment to madness--Magic, or beginning to end--Prom. Each "mini-series" is separated by a piece of art, which ties into the next mini-series. This part was crucial to me.

Spring Break

After a stressful, emotional Spring Break, I've decided to change my concentration to Life of a Teenage Girl. I'm disappointed obsession didn't work out, but it's better in the long run.

I Lurve You This Much!

I really like how this picture turned out! Part of the last "series" in my concentration... May have to change "Obsession" to "Average Life of an Aesthetic Teenage Girl"... We shall see...

Hyper Post!

So many ideas, so little time! It's getting harder and harder to focus on my concentration, when ideas are streaming in and out of my brain at a bazillion miles an hour! Spring break is going to be fantabulistic and productive! Lots of ideas and lots of time to execute said ideas! I know I'm babbling, but I'm very excited and can't wait to bring my ideas to life!

What's next?

What shall I do next? I shall edit edit edit. I need to emphasize some of the photos I have, for example, the tiara in the Prom Queen photos needs to be emphasized a lot. I want a few pictures of just the tiara, or photos where the only focus is on the tiara. I have finished with phototaking for the most part, although I wish for one more subcategory. I am excited for the weekend; great opprotunity for pictures! I hope to take some pics of my model and her boyfriend, or a few shots with me and my boyfriend for the last category. If I cannot, I'll focus in on Prom Queen and Magic and focus on taking photos of the objects with which my model(s) has/have been obsessed with. For example: cards, dice, tiara, pearls, etc. Can't wait!

What secrets do you hold, my friend?

What secrets do you hold, my friend?

I ask myself this every time I look at someone. This is what I focus on when I work on my art. I'm almost done. The end is within my reach. I may do one last photo-shoot, but I also like what I have... One more sub-category should work, yes/no/maybe-so?

Quick shout-out: Picnik, you will be missed! I know I, like many others, love you and will mourn you! It was fun while it lasted...

Ten Photos!

So I have two separate "series" within my concentration so far. The first is the obsession to be pretty. The following pictures are of a young girl with the dream to be a Prom Queen. But what went wrong?
Grr! Why are you sideways? Broken tiara = broken Prom Princess

Sideways too? How dare you photo! Couldn't decide between the two similar so I added both!

Her crown and no one else.

Memories of a broken-hearted Prom Queen...

"Must be pretty to keep the crown..."

I loved the contrast between these two photos!!

This is the same series I've been posting for weeks, but now with more finished products!
*Eye-twitch* "Must...have..."

The center of her obsession...

"Must win the game! Must!"

I love how dark I got her eye in contrast with her face! Super scary!

The basics...

This was a little more whimsical, but I still like it, because when playing Magic, my friends and I do get silly/whimsical...

This was more obsession-based like I'd origanally planned for!

Obvious?

The Basics...Cards and Dice....
Does this look Photoshopped--if so does it look OBVIOUSLY (i.e.super-fake) Photoshopped?

Yes/No/Maybe-So?

Week 3...A Time of Solitude, Hissy-Fits, and Yawns

I did it! I did it! I did it!

After a week of desperation in regards to finding models--I will admit, I did have a hissy-fit or two--I am very proud of how this series-type-thing turned out. I have something to be proud of!! This weekend shall be the weekend of my (hopefully) HUGE photoshoot with my best friend and my boyfriend. Very proud of this picture. I tried to emphasis the game and cards with color and put my model in very simple black-and-white. Should I boost the cards in the bottom right? Comment yes/no/maybe-so! Thanks!

My Week at a Glance--Week 2

So, so far this week, I've been struggling to get models. Everyone's busy this weekend! Hopefully Sunday or Monday morning, one of my models will be available. I'm already planning next weekend so they can't escape my clutches! I have fooled around on Picnik at home and Photoshop at school, trying to get a vague idea of what I want my photos to end up looking like. It's going well. I love using this blog! It gives us an easier way to critique each other, and feels cool having your own "space".

Figured I ought to add a picture. I like the crispness of the lines, but the light seems blaringly annoying. I strongly dislike it. I need to figure out if/how to fix it.

Experimenting....

Just was messing around on Picnik--check it out before it closes on April 19th!--because I don't have Photoshop at home. Kinda grainy and not impressed. Just an experiment. It was an attempt at trying to make it look either reminiscent or as if he were in an arena. Not very happy about how the photo ended up looking. I'll keep working on it.

Dipping a toe into the pool called "Concentration"...

My concentration is "obsession". One thing a few of my friends are really into is this card game, called "Magic". It got me thinking... What if someone liked it more than they wished to admit? So, in the first series of photos I took, the emotion my model gave off, was similar to those of an addict.
I attempted in capturing a crazed look in her eyes.

Temptation starts to take hold...

"Must....resist....!"

My boyfriend scattered his cards...glad I had my camera!

A rough work-in-progress...will update soon!!
